Hi all,
unfortunately I have problem with the kdevelop pbi.
Maybe it isnīt even related to the pbi, but I will tell you nevertheless :)
Installing Kdevelop was np, it even starts up, when I use the desktoplink.
But when I want to create a new project (selecting from menubar), it simply disappears. Guess it crashes, but with no feedback.
I can restart it, but the same happens again when trying to create a new project.
Any suggestions?

Could you open the concole, type "kdevelop" and hit "Enter"? Then try to reproduce the problem, and tell us what shows up in the concole...

Ah, what a nice idea. Still very unfamiliar with this UNIX thing, but i like it :)
Anyway, i did start kdevelop from the console and got the following output:
http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/6595/pcbsdkdevelop0ex.th.gif (http://img512.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pcbsdkdevelop0ex.gif)
It seems that I am missing some KDE stuff.

But AFAIK these are just trivial warnings, nothing to do with the core of Kdevelop.
Does it give errors in the console when it crashes?

Unfortunatly no.
There Warnings appear, when I start kdevelop.
But when I want to create a new project and kdevelop crashes, nothing is written to the console, instead it gets back the control.
Hm, maybe ask the question in an kdevelop forum, but with no information there is no big hope :/
Or try another C++ IDE :)

I suggest you uninstall it, and re-install it. If that doesn't help, you can try:
su
(type in your root password)
pkg_add -r kdevelop
To install it the old way. Please tell me if that helps...

Had the same thing before redoing my HDD, only it wouldn't launch from the console.
-Just curious does anyone have a WORKING KDevelop PBI installed? lol

Yes, it's working here...
Could you copy/paste the error message from the console ?

I typed in kdevelop / Kdevelop (w/wo v#s) and even just D/develop both in normal and super user modes. And all it had to say was there was no command by that name. Also looked around the KDevelop folder and didn't see the PBI shell scripts right there like with the others. I'll try and reinstall the PBI on the newly formatted HD.

I was having the new project problem, did the ports thing you suggested and it fixed it.

I am having the same issue. This is on a new install with 1.1 . I have already tried what was suggested in the forum and am still having the issue. Help!
I could always go back to vi and make and gcc ....
Thanks,

Okay, on a clean install (I wiped my system) the kdevelop.pbi has a couple of issues (perhaps they are not issues, but my limited experience says that they are disconcerting).
1) After installing the pbi, the kdevelope shortcut on the kmenu does not appear until after you have run the desktop shortcut.
2) There appears to be an issue with an install of some sort. The New Project menu selection kills kdeveleope for me and a couple of other people. I am rerunning the command line install (pkg_add -r kdevelop) to see if that clears the issue.

When I did a pkg_add -r kdevelop i got the following :
package gamin-0.1.7_2 conflicts with fam-2.6.9_6
please use pkg delete first to remove the conflicting package(s) or -f to force installation
pkg_add of dependency 'gamin-0.1.7_2' failed!
I have then proceeded to do a pkg_add -rf kdevelop .
I will let you know how that went in 11 hours. I have to goto work.
Thanks,
Sean Patzer, MCSE.

Even after a manual add of kdevelop, the system still unexpectedly closes on a new project.
I will wipe my system once again (known starting point, spin PCBSD 1.1 cd) and try a manual add of the kdevelope through pkg_add -r kdevelop in 10-11 hours rather than a pbi add of same thing.
inline, what type is your physical hardware if you are still reading this thread ? I am wondering if we can find a commonality and then disprove said commonality as the culprit.
Thanks,
Sean Patzer, MCSE.

Okay, did a manual install on a new system and I got a gamin/fam conflict error and KDevelop still does properly launch a new project successfully.
Is this conflict something that I should worry about ?
Thanks,
