I have a CanoScan D646U ex scanner which is not current supported by sane but there is a test driver for that as stated in :

so i downloaded both the ct_D646U.c(test driver) and sane-backends-1.0.16.tar.gz(sane source) but i dont know where to place the test driver to make it work.
