Logged in as normal user and when USB stick is inserted, the drive icon appeared at File Manager (LXDE, pcman) and when click on it, nothing happened.

Open up terminal and navigate to /media and this is what been shown:

-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 939 Feb 21 16:26 .hal-mtab
-rw------- 1 root wheel 0 Feb 21 15:11 .hal-mtab-lock
drwxrwxrwx 1 root wheel 16384 Feb 21 15:28 DRIVE00
drwxrwxrwx 1 root wheel 16384 Feb 21 15:28 DRIVEV00_

only can be accessed by root via terminal and root launched File Manager.

Is this a bug or there is need to do some configurations besides the following:

edit /etc/sudoers
edit /etc/fstab
using pmount

I'm seeing this behavior as well on my laptop. If I insert a USB drive, its mounted and all is well. But, if I unmount the drive, it is *instantly* remounted. I cannot find a way to "eject" the drive in some way to keep it from being instantly remounted.

Ugh ... had to end up killing hald on my system to get this to stop. I smell a haldaemon update.
