Please, with the New release of PCBSD, Canon printer drivers (especially Pixma MP270) be included in the printer driver database.
Thank you

Are they available as a FreeBSD port somewhere? If so I'll be happy to
include it.

Sorry, but I have never understood what a port is. I don't understand jail or shell either, being a 'click and go merchant'. I can fully understand that the PCBSD community (especially your goodself) want to concentrate on those members whose interest is in software engineering and programming. But us 'dumkoffs' are out in the user world and many of us just want to use an alternative to microsoft without becoming mini programmers. Click and go.
Just to give you a flavour of why I keep banging on about Canon print drivers, before this I was looking at my bank account when I realised I could not print a hard copy because I can't print from PCBSD. I went to my e-mail box and a receipt for a hotel deposit was there but again I could not print a hard copy. I will have to go to Windows or Ubuntu and go through the whole process again. Not being able to print prevents, to a very large part any use I make of PCBSD. Perhaps PCBSD is not for me.

No need to take offense, a lot of posters around here know about ports /
packages, and I thought you did as well :)
As for the driver, I already see a PIXMA MP270 in the database for a
default install of 9.0. Have you tried using it? Does it not work?

That's very good news. Should I download the new isotope and install it over the current hubble and then try to install my Canon printer?
No offense taken it was just to let you know that I am an ignoramous when it comes to programs.

Yea, you can grab RC2 and it should just be included when you setup your
printer. We are working on a RC3 now though, with FINAL right behind
that, so if beta / RC stuff scares you you may want to wait a few weeks
for the finished product :)

Thank you . I think it best if I wait as you suggest.
