Hi, I'm new to the forum ...and would like to stay, BUT: I installed current PC-BSD (8.5 and 9.0) in live mode, and in either version the brightness or backlight control doesn't work. My question is, is there a chance that in full instalation it could work or at least more can be done to make it work?
This is my first try of BSD, I'd like to switch from linux, but the brightness control is vital for my aging eyes.
Thanks for any comments.
Some more details:
It's HP EliteBook 8460p with AMD Radeon 6470M (detected by the system). There is fatal server error of Xorg - no monitor found. Nevertheless it starts into KDE and works more or less o.k. with correct resolutiom 1600x900. The acpi and kPowersave seem to work somehow. I tried also:
kldload acpi_video
sysctl hw.acpi.video (the actual brightness was 100)
sysctl hw.acpi.video.lcd0.brightness=10 (it prompts the change, but the brightness remains the same)
