k3b in new release

Does it freeze with media inserted? I've found that k3b can freeze during its probe for media if it doesn't find any.

Hello Dru,

k3b crashs during startup with media or without. I things that k3b doesnt recognise my drives. testdisk also don't see all my drives (HDD, SSD and CDROM).

I have the same problem with k3b, it crash on startup, i try to reinstall from pdidir or from port and he do the same thing: crush on start, what can I do? I'm new in PCBSD, i came from Slackware...and there do not have this problem.
This problem is because PCBSD 8.2 use kde4? instead of kde3.x ...i see on k3b site that the kde4 use k3b 2.0.2 and on pbidir it's only the version 1.0.5.3, which on k3n.org say it's used by kde3.

I think that might have something to do with it. There's a new port of k3b available now from Ports called "k3b-kde4". I'm going to try making a PBI for it and see if that fixes the problem.

I'm install k3b from ports pkg_add -r k3b

This isn't really the best place to trouble shoot disc burning software. It's probably better to ask this question in the support section of the forum. If k3b isn't working for you, perhaps you'd like to try installing xcdroast (pkg_add -r xcdroast)

using k3b 1.0.5 for kde 3.5.1.0 whithout issue on fresh install pcbsd 8.2 x64 with kde 4.x, personally I think k3b would make a great addition to the pcbsd distribution!

A PBI for k3b-kde4 builds OK but crashes during startup. Apparently, this version has some sort of hardware probe problem on FreeBSD 8.x which is fixed in FreeBSD 9.x. Kris will add k3b-kde4 to the next 9 snapshot so it can be tested. If you select KDE when you install the next snapshot, k3b will be included so you can try it out.
