If I attempt to install the add-on from: /usr/Programs/Thunderbird/share/lightning/lightning-1.0b1-freebsd8-amd64.xpi

I get the following error:

"Lightning 1.0b1 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Thunderbird 3.1.7."

Could someone add an updated version of lightning to the PBI?

We are just building the latest version available in ports:

http://www.freshports.org/deskutils/lightning-thunderbird/ ('http://www.freshports.org/deskutils/lightning-thunderbird/')

Once that gets updated, the PBI will include a newer version.

Looked at the pbiconf (http://trac.pcbsd.org/browser/pbibuild/modules/mail/thunderbird/pbi.conf). It's using desktutils/lightning but I believe the 3.1 version is deskutils/lightning-thunderbird

Good catch, hadn't seen there was a 2nd port now for lightning now.

I've switch that, and triggered a rebuild, we'll see if that fixes it.

Kris,
Where can I find the rebuild? Not seeing it on pbibuild. Has it just not finished?

Should be here:

32bit
ftp://ftp.pcbsd.org/pub/pbioutgoing/i386/8/mail/thunderbird/
64bit
ftp://ftp.pcbsd.org/pub/pbioutgoing/amd64/8/mail/thunderbird/

Running the 64bit version now, lightning works fine :)

Maybe I am missing something, but I have not found a solution to the lightning problem. When I install lightning 1.5 it says "requires additional items". If this has been solved will someone please, in plain english, explain what I must do.
