nVidia has released 256.x version for Unix and Linux. How do I get the latest and the greatest.

The 256.35 driver is included in 8.1 by default. You can try to load it
directly from nvidia on previous versions of PC-BSD if you like, but
that is untested.

I am downloading 8.1, will install tomorrow. I wish to try on 8.0 install, do I need to build a .pbi of the driver or I can just make install. I am trying to install MPlayer pbi but the double click option doesnt seem to work.

You can just do the standard "make install" or load the FreeBSD port of
the new driver.

The only thing that I want to say you that open source drivers for NVIDIA nForce hardware are included in the standard Linux kernel and leading Linux distributions. As I am using the same driver and downloading from the Internet and I really like its all of the services and facilities.
