Touchpad Side Scrolling for Thinkpad T60

I am new to PC-BSD* and I really like using it. I am wondering if someone else has used it on a Thinkpad T60. Currently, the side scrolling for the touchpad isn't working. I really want it to be enabled as it becomes tedious to scroll up/down windows. I browse the internet a lot so it's really cool if someone can point me in the direction of enabling it.

For the record, it works on default in Ubuntu. I hope that it can work on PC-BSD too.

* I currently have PC-BSD 8.1 installed.

I only have one problem: the touch pad isn't detected. As noted by the wiki, I've tried to copy and configure the .fdi file. However, I had no success. Back when I had Gentoo installed on this laptop...

Noted the same thing on a T400. Trying to figure out what bits to change to enable the side scrolling on the touchpad.

I'm running 9.0 RC3 x64 on my Thinkpad T61p, the side scroll also does not work.

using T500 and touchpad is fully configured in ubuntu and other distros i ve used by default (vertical as well as horizontal scroll (settings configured)) pbbsd9 64 bit doesnt seem to identify scroll ! will be an essential need for my frequent scrolling (dragging the slider is a real pain)

as an update, i installed synaptics / ksynaptics from the ports (pcbsd9.0) and i edited the xorg.conf file too. still no sign of the touchpad vertical / horizontal scroll enabled....

help in this regard will be appreciated... felt i ve done it only to notice nothing changed !

I have successfully installed the synaptics touchpad on a Compaq Presario adding in /boot/loader.conf

hw.psm.synaptics_support="1"

and installing the Xorg synapticsdrive as explained here (http://forums.freebsd.org/showpost.php?p=115960&postcount=4)

synaptics on T500 now works ! still wondering how to set up horizontal scroll with bottom edge of touchpad...

i didnt install ksynaptics or any of the sort, just added the hint in loader.conf and then added the device identifier for synaptics with psm0.

i could set it up after a long wait !
