I'ms till trying to figure out what you mean by tune colours :-P


I've generally found generally want the XV[url] (XVideo) or [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIT-SHM]X11/X[11]Shm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X_video_extension) (X windows system, SHared Memory extension) for video play back, depending on hardware. OpenGL & SDL should also work hardware/drivers permitting; but I've found OpenGL to consume more CPU then XV/X11SHM in MPlayer.
