According to the PC-BSD main site, current users of 0.8.1 can have their system automatically upgraded by running PC-BSD's package manager and then refreshing / updating things.

While this sounds really simple - I went to the "K" menu, then "KDE programs", then "Package Manager", then "Kpackage"...

Is that the right Package Manager software? I hit refresh, and then something seemed to update in the menus.

However, I don't know how to verify whether the 0.8.1 to 0.8.2 upgrade happened or not.

Is there an easy way to check?

I think you're refering to Kmenu==>Computer==>PCBSD Settings==>Online Update

Brilliant!

It may have taken a few days until I thought to look there...

Appreciate the help!

ATENTION

The online update feature was introduced on 0.8.0 but is only working on 0.8.1 (according to Kris)

I can confirm it works for 0.8.1 as i have just updated it minutes ago.

CORRECTED

Cheers!

You can upgrade 0.8.1 to 0.8.2
People running 0.8.1 need not download the full ISO again, since the update to 0.8.2 is available as on Online Update, through the PC-BSD update manager. (7MB total download).
