Ati Mobility Radeon 9600 - KDE doesn't start

Well that's my trouble, i have an HP laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9600, I configured with VESA driver for the first use but when you make login the desktop looks "compresed" at one side of the screen and out of color, and the restarts again.
Any solutions?

You may have to set your h/v sync rates manually, either through the the display setup utility or manually in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

You should be able to find the values for your display in the laptops manual.
