View Full Version : Nvidia 6200 took a real dive in performance with Fibonacci

I was getting about 1900 fps in glxgears in Edison. I was using some 77.something driver (biggest number nvidia driver), if I remember correctly.
Now the same driver is not available in Fibonacci. My performance with the nv driver is a few hundred (no acceleration) with the 177.something (? biggest numbered driver) I get LESS THAN ONE fps. Something has gone haywire.
Soon I will try the latest FreeBSD ports nvidia driver and see what that does.

Hmm, how do I do that? If I try to log in using Fluxbox, it throws me back out to the login screen. If I try to log into TWM, it just gets stuck. KDE is also very slow here, probably due to this issue, and simple things like scrolling my mouse works very badly in this new version. Also selecting text with ctrl alt arrow also don't work here in KDE.
When I was running glxgears before in Edison, that was WITH Compiz Fusion running simultaneusly.
This is frustrating. I installed this over my very good working PC-BSD Edison. It seemed to work OK in VMWare in Windows, but it doesn't here.

The main reason I asked was this (http://daemonforums.org/showthread.php?t=1953&highlight=kde4+nvidia) (see the threads first post, and BSDKaffee's first post)
When it comes to getting other WM to work on PC-BSD 7, I don't use it, so it's hard for me to say lol.... I run FreeBSD 7-STABLE with the Gnoem Display Manager and Blackbox for my window manager rather then a DE.
