Well I have a very old generic mp3-pendrive, 512 mb and most of times when you plug the device onto the usb port the mp3 resetes itself, and you have to unplug and plug again until the player it's recognized and starts on windows xp, but when i've tried to do that on pcbsd the system freezes and after that the system crashes and reset itself, not just once, it's always the same... really I don't like it. Why that doesn't happen on windows? I would like to put my favorite music in my old pendrive using pcbsd.

Hi, I had the same issue with my usb drive.

It seems some USB drives bring PC-BSD (I am running 1.5.1) to crash and there is no reason to find... Label the stick with a large "W" and use it only in Windows machines...

On another machine the internal USB controller seemed to hava a bug (with Windows it is running but BSD rebooted after inserting). I installed a separate USB controller card and disabled the onboard controller (I use a card with NEC chipset), this solved the problem.
