Hi, i searched the forum and tried a lot of things like installing from the ports but with no success.

After the fresh installation of PC-BSD 7 i don't have Kde autostarted. I must login as user first, and then as su to load kdm.

In boot/loader.conf i got commented Vesa, and shure Linux and Nvidia set to "Yes".

Tried to run kldload nvidia as su and i got kldload: can't load nvidia: File exists

This might not be much help, but I have the same card and it works just fine. Have you tried selecting the configure X, option 7 on the boot menu I think, and going through the video config again?

When I read PC-BSD 7 included the 177.x nVidia driver, I downloaded the 32-bit dvd iso to perform a clean install (default options + Firefox, OpenOffice, K3B). When prompted I chose the nvidia 177.x from the drop down (not the nv). There was a Wine update to 1.1.4 which I installed.

With this fresh install I was able to
- set the desktop resolution to 1280*1024
- found my WoW partition in /media/..
- launched WoW with % wine Wow.exe -opengl

I like FreeBSD but if PC-BSD follows the FreeBsd releases, it will save me the time of installing the nVidia driver and KDE.

dual boot: XP Pro / PC-BSD 7.0
Intel E4300 Core 2 Duo
2GB DDR2 Crucial Rendition
E-VGA 8600GTS SSC edition PCI-E
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
Samsung 120gb SATA HD
Samsung 920BM 19" LCD (using DVI)

Ok, i install correct driver from the boot menu. I make default resolution 1440x900 but it seams it still doesn't load the driver. Windows are slow, scrolling is slow...

Please someone got solution? Thanks.
